I don't know much in that regard but it sure as heck didn't work when I've tried it. I just want to see all my favorite game worlds in wonderful 3D, and yet for some reason Vireio, which has support for Oculus as far as I'm aware, can't be bothered to make the same thing for Vive.? Or. The funny thing is, I'm not even looking for room scale.

I also found Vireio which sounds pretty darn great, in the same way Vorpx does, but it doesn't even work with the HTC Vive! Or rather, it does but only for Fallout 4, which I don't have. While searching for alternatives, I've found Tridef, which apparently doesn't support VR at all anymore, since before the DK2 was even a thing. But I will surely not pay 40$USD for a program that is so mixed in reviews, and has ZERO in the way of free trials. Vorpx sounds exactly what I'm looking for, and I probably wouldn't mind all the tinkering with settings to make games work properly. You can find a full list of options you have in this regard in the Essential Hints Guide in the vorpX help, which also explains a few other basics that are worth to read before starting with vorpX.I've been doing research on and off for months, stretching back long before the Vive even launched trying to find information on how to play games like Skyrim, Dishonored, and other DirX games in VR. And if absolutely no other option exists, you may have to use a workaround that may involve visible top/bottom bars. For some games you can do it directly in the game options, for others the vorpX Game Optimizer in the config app can do it or you need an external tool like Flawless Widwscreen. How the FOV can be adjusted varies from game to game. A neat trick that both the Vive and the Oculus CV1 use to gain a few extra pixels where it counts most. The bottom bar is larger than the top bar because the Vive uses a slightly asymetric view to account for the human eye being better at looking downwards than upwards. The image is perfectly centered vertically, i.e.

That also requires a high enough field of view (120° horizontal for Vive), otherwise the image will look distorted. If you see bars at the top and/or bottom, you need to set the Image Zoom value to 1.0 and the aspect ratio mode to “Pixel 1:1” on the image page of the ingame menu.
